Forgive me tagging on the same question- does the same apply to n/a vanagons, even though their IP was governed lower than any? My MK II replacement pump keeps pulling like crazy past the shift marks, whereas the original one started shutting down the engine just before it got to the mark. (I don't have a tach) I just don't know how high I should risk going- it performs so much better up high though, especially on a 3-4 shift.
I have the same model as you shegal and I was wondering what your economy is depending on how you drive these mk2 n/a's? My normal economy is 48 mpg on highway and 43 in the city.I do about 70 no problem in mine. It's first gear that I am always worried about. Does anyone know how hight the rpms go in first when getting up to speed? I just feel it.
how will i know if my pump is "standard" i have heard that 70mph is hard to attain with a stock mk2 golf 1.6 na
