dark pictures are dark. You really need to come over the shop some day soon. I have all kinds of neat stuff. I think I threw a few of those away the other day.

You can use just about any 8V valve cover in a 1.6D.

If you are going to go through the trouble of getting a new one you might as well try to get an Aluminum G60 Valve Cover. No warping or bending like the stamped steel ones, so no / less leaks and, you might see a bit of noise reduction.

They are more expensive than the steel ones and are sort of in demand but, if you are patient you can get one fairly inexpensively. I have seen them for sale on the vortex and for $50-$80. I won one on ebay a couple weeks ago for $42.

Also get the valve cover gasket upgrade kit. It's a one piece rubber gasket and new shouldered studs. It's part number 026 198 025C $15 at BusDepot while you are at it, blow $5 on a Valve Cover Oil Deflector if yours is cracked or brittle (don't want any pieces in the pan after all.) 026 103 547 $4.79

I am waiting for my gasket and deflector to arrive, mean while I have been trying to decide if I should paint the G60 VC or send it out for powder coat, or use it as is. It's not all that ugly.

Cosmetics aside I think the cast aluminum valve cover plus the one piece gasket will finally rid my 1.6TD of valve cover leaks forever... Ok well a long time, hopefully 50,000 miles. If so, it's well worth the money.

Oh.... and make a tinyurl for that ebay link  :D it's knocked my whole screen out of whack and makes my brain hurt. Your link above is reduced to http://tinyurl.com/2c2r2g

I'll third that notion. I have an aluminum cover on my engine too. No leaks. Mine is a little different though as it has the oil filler on the opposite end. It works out great because my intercooler piping goes right over where the filler would be if I had a stock or g60 valve cover.

I think you have what they call a G40 cover.
