Con Rod Bolts

Has anyone ever tried reusing con rod nuts and bolts when rebuilding a diesel?  If you do have to used new ones, who sells them?

I got mine from the VW dealer. I have heard of lots of people reusing them without problems but they are stretch bolts so you have been warned.

Did they torque the used ones to 22ft lbs plus 1/4 turn?

They're cheap, why the hell take a chance on ruining your engine? Do it right or don't do it at all!

The VW dealer shows two different bolts, how do I know which one? One is pressed in, the other is pressed in with a "torque angle method".

I have a 5 cylinder Audi Turbo diesel that should have the same pistons as a 1.6 VW turbo diesel.

Thanks but I'm not wanting ARP Bolts, Already have that #.
I've read through that thread numerous times and I suppose it's possible I missed it but I didn't see anything in there about stock rod bolts.

If you do the math, OE Rod bolts are what $4. ea approx?
So your out a whole $32.00 for OE bolts that last for 400K + on a stock engine. There are guys running stock everything over 100hp.
ARP's are over $100.00.

I'm sticking with OE Bolts, ARP's for the head but Rod's are getting OE Bolts.

I did order the "torque angle install" bolts, but my Bentley for the Audi Turbo Diesel reads that I should touque to 21 ft-lbs, then 1/2 turn 180 degrees.  Doesn't this seem like a little much?

Hmm, hard to say. I cant remember right at the moment what the specs are on teh 1.6TD. Guess I had better take the plactic off the Bently when i get home and take a looksee.
