went with a 1.6 'cos I found another GTD one on ebay with a new head at the right price, so just swaping some bits over replacing a few things before chucking it back in!
I'd love a t3 but haven't managed to find one cheap enough, and ideally i'd want it before I put the engine back in to make fitting it easier, but I hope that wont be long now so will probably end up just running one of the ones I've got and wait to upgrade later....
also I've been meaning to ask you, are you going to be running veggie in the mk1? if so will you be modifying anything to run it?
yes cooking oil in the mk1 bert,alter nothing like my SB jetta,just stick it in the tank,i use 20 liters of diesel and 20 liters of cooking oil in colder weather,10 liters diesel 25 liters cooking oil from mid april ish :wink: when it warms a bit,have made a fuel heater which works well bert,its 2 banjo fittings bolted together,with a glow plug screwed into the one end,it warms the oil and the pump nicely when its cold outside,i run it for about 5 mins till the engine is warm.The oil actually comes into contact with the glow plug,it really works well i copied this

If you could buy any Turbo what would you buy?? This question is for anyone.
Guess I'd buy a GT1749, as that's what I did buy. You'll get a lot of different answers though depending on what people want from their vehicle.
errrm yeah unfortnately I can't afford to buy the turbo I want, which is why I have to choose between the ones I actually have - hence the specific question, so anyone got an answer?
k14 or t2?
I have only had a k-14. I did like it however. It spooled quickly, made more boost than I could use at the time without an IC. My egts were a bit high though even with a 2.5" exhaust and no to hardly any smoke, but I have no idea what my timing was set to. The compressor wheel got screwed up, so I decided to go to a vnt.
