First off, it should be a pressure actuator. If it's hooked to vacuum then there
is your problem. If it's hooked to boost, put a gauge in the line to make sure of how much it's getting. It sounds to me like it isn't getting any. My k-14 wouldn't make more than 9 psi with the screw turned as far as it would go. I had to put an air bleed between the turbo and manifold to get anything higher.

Jimfoo, that doesn't sound right at all. I've seen 18+ psi will a k14 on a 1.6 with just the screw turned in on the wastegate. The wastegate line isn't connected to the manifold, it's connected to the intake scroll.
Andrew
Sorry, you are correct about the location of the line. Mine is obviously apart in preparation of installing the VNT. Mine however didn't get above 9 psi without a bleed. Guess it has something wrong with it, maybe a broken spring or else I misunderstood the previous owner as he had a bleed on it to increase the boost. Guess I don't want to confuse anyone with mis-information.

Mario give me a call this weekend....I dont think I'm going snowboarding its gonna be +14!!
Not all the K14's have the same style wastegate....there are some that you can adjust differently....there would be a threaded shaft behind the turbo and the wastegate would be attached somewhere closer to the end of it......the closer to the end you move the wastegate the more boost....
I dont know if that makes sense or not....but if someone has a pic im sure it would become more clear!!!
cheers, Michal

on mine, in the middle of the wastegate, facing the passenger side fender, there is a threaded shaft w/ a 3mm allen key hole in it, and a nut threaded on the shaft, do i need to crank the allen shaft in? or out to increase boost? and how much? thanks!

quit being a pansy, i've been running my k14, 1.9td with tdi intercooler at 20psi for a year and half now, no problems. when i blow it, time to upgrade.
