Hi all,
I'm brand new to the forum(this is my first post) and I'll start by saying that I am amazes but delighted by the fact that such a sight exists. I own an 84 Quantum TD, and I love it. I got it about 9 months ago when I got my license as a hand me down.
Anyway, my first question is about low boost pressure. Last weekend, I hooked up 10ft. 1/8" that I routed out the engine bay, in through the drivers window, and onto a tire guage. Then I went for a drive. Under normal driving conditions, I barely saw the needle move. But, if I revved it up moderately between shifts, it would peak at about 7 psi. The max boost I could get was in third gear, the others could even pull 7. So, whats up? Also, my car seems to consume quite a bit of oil, which I guess I think could be related to a leaky turbo seal...or something like that, maybe. Thanks in advance, you guys have the greatest forum on earth.
Aaron
How much oil is it using in how many miles?
Also, an accurate boost guage will help you, the tire guage setup is agood try but until you get somthing more suited for the job you prolly won't get accurate results..
Read the "FAQ/Tech Tips/Please Read First" part of the site before you go any further
Also, here is a good link to troubleshooting low / no boost issues..

yeah the tire gauge thing haha i dunno about, especially since it's not made to work like a boost gauge and stuff. damn you got a td as a hand me down??? lucky!
oh yeah, and pull the intake boot off the turbo and check the condition of the turbo and look for oil
