• oh, lol i read on a site off google, definetly cross flow, maybe i'll use my passat intercooler instead of my audi 4k or 5k one.

• Crossflow is better and I don't recall see any aftermarket IC in standard type....

  the air coming in over the headlight across the intercooler appears to dead end right on the engine, not really what I'd call ideal for flow.  Not to mention the heat soak issues.

  The air would dump into the under hood cavity above the transaxle, which should be a fairly low pressure area. I expect the pressure differential across the core would be much same as a front mount, though the core size is much smaller. The heat soak issues with the GTD setup are real though.
  
   I run a similar setup to the GTD's on my Mk3 but it uses a thicker single pass core and a larger intake duct. The effectiveness is decent. Its difficult to get IAT's above 40ºC with 17psi of boost. IC inlet temps can exceed 115ºC.
  
  There are many ways to mount an intercooler, the front mount allows the largest physical size but may not always the best for airflow, especially if you have AC condensor, IC and rad all stacked up. Some world rally teams mount rad and IC angled in sort of a V shape to avoid the pitfalls of layering, requires lots of sheet metal work and an "extractor" hood. I've always thought that the the twin side mount with vented fender linders from the audi TT might be the hot, er cool ticket for an AC equipped car.
