I did the governor mod a while back...and the car runs nice...not a lot of smoke!! but the one question i have is....the car is faster at 1/4 throttle then it is at full throttle!!!!!
im thinking about what i should do....i was thinking turn up the boost a little..cause maybe i have too much fuel!!!!
any help would be appreciated!!
thanks
oh....and the gas milage isnt that great!! i read on here that it should have gone up....but i get about 650kms per tank!!!! its a 1.9TD
you are probably driving it hard lol
1.6td of mine driving aggressive 70% of the time gets me about 650km's a tank.
but i tried driving really easy for an entire tank. over 900.
thats shifting at 2000-2500 and never more than 25% throttle
i know i'd be pushing it hard after doing something like what you've done just to feel the difference.
Keep in mind that if you are getting too much fuel and need to turn up the boost to get more air. Then the engine is running rich and thus probably isn't running very efficiently. It could be that if you turn up the boost and get more air in then you would use the power more efficiently and thus not use so much fuel.
Also it's not a great idea to judge your fuel usage on only one tank. Run a few first.
Let us know.
Interesting, I have never experienced or heard about this problem before, but I can take a wild guess!
Some VE pumps have a feature in them called load dependent injection timing, which retards the start of injection timing at light throttle settings. It is internal to the pump. If your 1.9lTD pump has that feature, a whole lot of fueling, and is set with too much static timing advance, it may be possible for the power to drop when the throttle is increased beyond the point where the load dependent injection timing stopped retarding the start of injection. The fix would be to adjust your load dependent injection timing so it turns off at a lighter throttle position (not easy to fiddle with this without a VE pump test bench...), or to retard your static injection timing.
Other possible explanations: something with the 1.9lTD EGR system or throttle controlled wastegate systems going haywire (if present on yours.)
I have made about 6000km.....its not jsut one tank full!!!!
thats the average i get around the city!!! i run the car to about 3000 rpms all the time!!!!
im not soo concerned about the mileage...but the fact that its faster at 1/4 throttle then it is at full throttle!!!!! if it is the load dependant injection timing thing then i most likely wont fiddle with it....maybe sometime when i get the pump rebuilt or something like that!!!!
first i wanna try turning up the boost a little and see what happens!!!!!
