Can 1.6NA with an altitude comp aneroid inj pump be esily conv into a 1.6TD IP

Are most of the ineternals and fixed settings of a 1.6NA pump same as 1.6TD pump?
Reason I am asking is that I have a very good 1.6NA with aneroid that is used for altitude compensation and want to swap out the altitude compsensating aneroid and replace it with an aneroid top off of a 1.9TD that would be uesed as a 1.6TD IP on EcoDiesel 1Y - 089 - 313 motor for better performance.
I was thinking of doing the gov mod while at it on the 1.9TD top if a 1.9TD top would work or will only a 1.6TD aneroid top work - the gov on 1.6TD and 1.9TD are different I think so I may have to use an adapted 1.6NA gov to make work. Does anyone know how this could or might work best?
I know the 1.6EcoDiesel only says 1.6D on the bock but I do beleive all 1Ys had oil squirters so I could safely run a boosted pump verses just a normal ecodiesel pump - correct? This EcoDiesel is in real good shape! It has less than 100K miles.
The numeres off good Giles rebuilt - non performance moded 1.6N/A pump with aneroid for altitude compensation are
NR 0 460 484 200
R 254 B5 4010
180 1100 N
any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks!

If Giles has touched its insides than the numbers on the side mean diddly.
The 1.9TD top is pretty ***ty in terms of the boost pin being flat. Even if you can get a 1.6 pin in there, I have heard of some 1.9 lids not even moving the pin that rides the boost pin far enough to do any better than stock.
The pumps cases and internal throttle levers should be the same therefore you will only need the throttle setup that matches the lid and external throttle setup. Beware that the governor cage shafts are slightly different lengths, so the pump will need to be re-tuned after setting it up.

Thanks for info - I do have a 1.6TD pin but like you say others have even with a 1.9TD top has not provided really anything much more than stock performance.

Correctly so.
I have put a 1.6 TD lid on a 1.6 NA pump before and used it as a boost activated pump.. so I see no reason why the ECO couldn't do the same..
If you do want a 1.9TD lid that has the full range boost pin I have a few, PM me if you are interested.

The altitude compensating pump top has a reasonable boost pin. It is MUCH better than the AAZ but not quite as good as the 1.6TD pin.

Thanks Libby
I am thinking you are correct - and will take tops off 1.6 with alt comp top and check for pin inside and in that case since I do have a 1.6TD pin I can just replace pins and add a lid to the top off of a 1.9TD so that the turbo boost can affect the pin and performance properly like a 1.6TD - so they must be pretty much alike except for pin and very top or lid of upper aneroid section - that sounds good and I may very well do the gov mod while I am replacing the top seal -
How have your 4B pumps turned out as far as mTDI pumps go? Any progress on these?
Thanks for your time and input!!!

woah, woah, waitaminute...
There were altitude compensating aneroids for the 1.6? uhh... never heard of that, but give me the scoop, man!!

yes - instead of boost on top from turbo there is instead a vacuum port on lower side of aneroid top with different fuel adj pin to compensate for altitude differences - it was in the 87s and later Mk2s - I have mistaken these to be TD pumps but just in looks only - altitude compensation was for NA motors - so in therory one can fairly easily turn an altitude comp aneroid into a boost pump - changes pins - and lids and adj - only what I understand - but I have never done it - libbydiesel understands if you want to ask him more

All you have to do is add the boost fitting to the top of the aneroid and the atmospheric vent to the bottom and adjust it some and it will work fine for boost. It has a decent boost pin and the whole starwheel assembly.

Running one in my 86TD now... Works fine.
