Water Pump Pulley Problem

Here is another problem I just ran into. This AAZ came with A/C but now it will not be used. The serpentine belt now has no A/C pulley to wrap around so the belt is much shorter and will run into the water pump and double cross on to the tensioner pulley. The water pump here has a separate belt and pulley coming off the crank.
I have seen pictures of the water pump using this groove belt but I can't seem to find the p/n or even if it will work in this situation.
I can rig up an idler where the A/C was but I'd rather not.
Any Ideas?
Thanks
Tony

you are looking for an obd1 vr6 water pump pulley, then you can use the serp belt on it instead of the v belt.

Can you get a p/n for this one? I try looking for it but I get different choices. Would this be the right number? 028 121 031E

Or a 93 non-A/C AAZ pully. My car has the serp for the alternator and water pump, and a v-belt for powersteering.
Part number according to VAGcat is 028121031E
The P/N for the VR one is 028121031K

Super thanks. Do have a picture on this setup on your car? That would be very helpful.

If you get a vr6 pulley it works just fine. I have a serp setup like this and I run the water pump off the serp and the power steering it you have it, is the only thing running off the v-belt. You will just need a shorter v-belt than what came with the car.

The water pump pulley is just flat steel and so it seems like the back of the belt should run on it. That's not the case, tho. The ribs need to run on the flat steel because the water pump has to run clockwise.

why do you have a 16v power steering pulley on your water pump?
you need a VR6 water pump pulley spaced out +5mm
or a VR6 power steering pulley, not spaced at all..

It looks to me like he has an AAZ water pump pulley from the AAZ A/C serpentine setup on his water pump.

That's correct. The engine came with A/C and this truck is not setup for it. I was contemplating on installing A/C but it's too much work.
This truck came with no power steering as well. That's another pulley I don't have to worry about.
It's good to know I only have one belt to worry about. Simple is good when you're out in the middle of nowhere in central Oregon.

I got a hold of the pulley and new Idler. This belt is a 1045mm. It look like it's a little bit long. I am thinking a 1035mm or so would be better.
Since this is the first time I've seen this setup. Is this correct as far as the belt wrap?
Thanks for the help in finding the parts.

correct belt wrap, but you need a 1034mm belt..
6pk-1033 is the dayco part number, i believe..
but im running the 1034mm belt on my GTI, and it works fine.
had a 1054mm belt on there at first, and it was WAY TOO LONG.
