Where is his dynosheet?
http://www.vwdiesel.net/forum/index.php?topic=28825.45
Also I have seen a dyno sheet of a Mercedes diesel making over 500hp and revving to 7k peak power was still between 5-7k tho just like our engines
Those MB engines can't be compared at all with their totally different prechamber design, 4 valves per piston, inline pumps that handles crazy rpms and high fuel quantities, robustness+++
OM606 mid-engine Rabbit would be SICK!
I just meant peak power was in the same range

It's odd none of the 1.6 engines seem to make much power until about 3500 and then it's an abrupt spike and a small plateau of power, is it just hOw the engine behaves or is slow spool the factor
It's all down to turbo sizing. It's very difficult to make that sort of power on a 1.6 IDI without a BIG turbo.
I would like 220 hp with a broad power band myself.. And that's what I'm trying to do too.

Any new records on this subject?
Josh dyno'd 288whp on a 1.6 hybrid w/ merc turbo, and nitrous..
giles pump of course..
i think the dyno was a little bit off..
i know his truck is powerful, but i dont think its almost 300hp..
he doesnt even run 100mph in the quarter..
1600#s should do better than 100mph in the quarter w/ damn near 300hp..
He does do 100mph in the quarter which is very fast for the et he had
he runs like 86 mph..
ive seen his time slips..
ive only seen one 100+ mph run..
josh himself will tell you he is no good at drag racing..
and idk if the truck is 1600#s or not..
my black 2dr rabbit was right around that tho.. very little interior..

josh wrote in the same thread with the dynos that he was running 16's at 100mph. Which is the same trap speed Blake ran with his tdi rabbit and he was doing low 14s spinning his 175mm tires with ***ty 60 foot times, joshes 60 foot times were even worse but usually being bad at drag racing you will still have about the same trap speed

Thanks, thats intresting. Seems high numbers for that turbo and trap speed, but I haven't seen how nitros work with idi before... For comparison, I ran 103mph with 200whp and 2300lbs (with driver) Scirocco.

It's spool factor. I've seen 1,6 254whp dynosheet where max power was at 3700.

My caddy is right around 2000lbs with very little interior, no a/c, no rear bumper. I was hoping someone had come up with a diet to get a caddy near 1600lbs.

For what I wonder, a twin turbo seems the best idea. A super small k03 to boost off idle, and a huge k26 or bigger that can carry that power up past 3000 to redline. All while bypassing the k03 after it runs out of steam, early, like 2500.
You'd need a stout bottom end to handle high boost and fuel at low rpms, but damn does the k03 ever spool FAST.

and it becomes a HUGE restriction too..
you would need a BIG external wastegate to make a K03 work for compounds..
because MOST of the exhaust gasses will be bypassing the turbine, not going thru it..
i would think you would need the internal gate working good, and have a BIG external gate as well..

Oh, I thought that when I mentioned to use such a small turbo it was implied?

yea, but i mean something that is basically capable of flowing 100% of the exhaust capacity of the engine..

You mean like an external wastegate? Lol if your already sdoing full custom it would be easy.

Thats it! I'm gonna go and have the truck Dyno'd again at a different shop and hopefully the numbers will be proof of what I have.
I have done nothing to the truck since last dyno other than refill the nitrous bottle.
I'll get a video of first start, and at the dyno.

let me know on your dyno run, I am pulling for you. I think with the nitrous anything is possible. I would really like to know what they charge you to use the dyno. I would like to dyno mine when the time comes.

No doubt it makes a lot of power 100mph trap speeds are proof of that. This should be interesting to see another plot tho, the low boost ones are the most interesting to me especially the high rpm ones
