I like to put exhausts together using Easy-Seal SS band-type clamps, similar to the VW type pictured above. They are very expensive but heavy duty, and reuseable, come in sizes ranging from 2" all the way up to 6", and make mods to the exhaust a breeze. Available from good auto parts stores or heavy truck suppliers. Most heavy truck exhausts are put together with these.
yup.. just gotta get the stainless ones so they dont become one with the exhaust system..
There's also V-bands and clamps. You weld the V-bands on to the pipe ends and then the clamp holds them all together...

Easily removable / re-attachable!

I like this V band system. The mating pipe has to have a flare to mate up to the V right? Can you post a pic of the tool to make the flare?
Don't think so - you just weld the ring on to the end of the pipe.

Yes, but what about the other pipe that mates to the one with the V? It can't be another V-pipe.

theres 2 couplers pictured. one gets welded to each end you wanna connect. the v-band holds the couplers together.
you dont flare the pipe.
