Hello! I have question about hybrid turbo. I want a k24/k26 hybrid. Someone at home already built one? if you share the experiences and pictures too:) Thanks a lot! I have an 1.9 TD AAZ engine in my car.

the K26 flows more air than the K24..
you will get a bottle neck at the K24 side of the turbo, and it will make EGTS skyrocket.. so, if you build one of thses, be sure to pay CLOSE ATTENTION to your egt gauge..
if you want any part of a K26, just go all out, and use the whole turbo..

i already posted all i know.. everyone that has run one, has taken it of and went with either a full K26, or full K24..
the 26 cold side moves soo much air, that the 24 hot side cant get rid of all of it quick enough.
on paper, the 24/26 hybrid is a good idea, but it just doesnt work very good from what everyone says..

perhaps with a better breathing wastegate a k24/k26 wouldn't be too bad. but it sounds like the k24 hot side is too small to spin the k26, making lots more back pressure and high egts.

exactly.. the K24 spins the K26 side so hard that the air has a tough time getting back thru the K24 side..
these turbos work fine, they just have high EGTs and EMPs (exh mani pressure, or drive pressure)
FWIW, a K24 will have lower EGTs and EMPs than a hybrid.. willy ended up taking his hybrid off, and running a straight up K24..

I was thinking 53 willys took his off because it exploded.
Search is your friend...on the same page he got it running it exploded.

something new here? Is the car still running fine. Are you shedule to make a dyno run? Are you running high boost now or still keep it smooth?

well I have been driving lots...even tho I don't have it registered :oops:
it running VERY VERY strong...I'm hitting 20psi often..and all seems well
I'm still trying to be easy on it so all this 20psi has been slowly building it to 20psi...no full throttle hard hitting boost yet...honestly I'm still kinda scared :lol: :oops: I dont want to take the head off again...
it runs super cool now too...I love this little car.
the k24/k26 turbo is a little laggy but I really like how it pulls once it does lite off....
I'm tiring to find a cheap k14 for some compounds... :twisted:

hmm, i think i do recall that as well. i drove a car with a k24/k26 before, it was a mk2 coupe with the governor mod and front mount ic and big exhaust, i think it was running 25 psi, but there were 3 people in the car and it was raining, wasn't anything spectacular imo tho. definitely wasn't slow either, but i can't say it was any faster than my mk1 coupe with a k24 and no intercooler and no governor mod

yea, willys turbo may have exploded.. i cant remember for sure if it did or not..
i do remember for sure tho, that someone had one built, and was running it, then took it back off because it was causing high EGTS, and a bottle neck at higher rpms..

he built a 1.5 TD with an AAZ head and T3 turbo if im not mistaken? maybe he had a 24/26 hybrid too at one point. it was soo long ago..
