Anyone got a source for the special tool used to change the cam/intermediate/main oil seals? Or a trick to doing them without it? I know with the main you can pull the carrier and press it out.
1.6TD, MD. The motor is out of the car right now, btw.
ive never used any special tools, just screw drivers, or seal pullers to get the seals out, and a hammer and socket to re-install them.
That must be a big socket.

yep, there's some big bolts out there
The IM shaft also has a carrier that you take off to change the seal, the carrier uses an O ring to seal to the block so it wouldn't hurt to use a new one there. While you're in there it wouldn't hurt to check the IM shaft bearing. Look for flaking.
For the cam you can remove the cap and it's real easy to get to the seal so it should pop right out, put a DAB of rtv under the cap when reinstalling it.
The crank seal carrier has a gasket behind it that will need changing if you pull it, I did my crank seal without pulling the carrier and without special tools.
Have fun.

Thanks for the tips. I already have all the seals, gaskets and even that IM shaft o-ring. Just wanted know if there was any voodoo or magic incantation I should whisper to get the job done more easily.
