You'll need to move your fuel filter from the shock tower to the front fender as the intake tube is a tight fit. You'll have to replace the fuel line with a longer piece but it's not a bad idea on an'81 and especially if you're planning to run bio. Even though you've disabled the blow off valve, you'll still need to run the hose or you will have a big hole. The waste gate should go off @15 psi and will give you a little more oomph.
I'm running a K&N filter on the end of my intake hose and it 's working good. Resist the urge to clean things up by cutting a hole and running some flex pipe to the cowl area; the noise is deafening. Please invest in a decent down pipe. Build one or buy one. 2.5" is a good size. 3" is a ground dragger. The stock cast iron piece is a joke and the old NA system is a crime.
My engine has the oil sensor on the head. I tapped into the second port on the filter adapter for a mechanical gauge. You might consider using a ford oil filter as the clearance to the frame is really tight with the cooler installed. It's the standard PH8-A (fram#) filter. there's also the PH 16 which is a shorter version. Some brands of the V-Dub filter are quite long & could rub. Very happy that I decided to go with a turbo in my caddy. A cop let me go for doing 76 as he couldn't believe that I could actually do it. (I've had it to 95).

i like where that is headed... i may steal that idea from you, sir.
i'm getting closer, i just need a compression fitting for the oil filter flange to get things rolling... stupid 'merica and not having anything metric...

a shot with the rain tray intake..

and a shot from the side, almost showing where it hooks to the turbo.

just ordered the well recommended EGT setup from aircraft spruce, a boost controller, boost gauge. had to grab some silly compression fittings and whatnot for the oil line, and ordered all the gaskets i need. getting closer to building it guys... i'm excited!

i live in OREGON! i think if anyone would have problems with rain, if there were gonna be any, i would know about them.
and the filter isnt actually sitting on the floor of the rain tray, its suspended. and that was just a temporary filter in the pic.
it sounded SOO SWEET sitting there idling..

I live in Oregon too. I'm using the goofy looking stock rubber intake hose so my K&N fits right up front where your pipe fitting is. There is a baffle beside the radiator that keeps any direct water from entering the system. I had a problem with rain & puddles soaking the alt. belt and making it squeal. I installed a 95 amp alt. and it pulls a bit of power. I ended up making a tin tray that I screwed to the body that protects this area and the problem is gone. Still, with the rain tray intake.; this would seem like the ideal place for it but I had a huge K&N and while it sounds cool at lower speeds, I repeat, it was deafening at speed. Stick your ear next to your wife's Kirby when she vacuums the carpet and you'll know what I mean. Maybe your filter isn't quite as noisy, but that's just my experience.

i dont hear any intake noise. but that may be that i have a VNT.
and it may also be because i run nothing but an open downpipe..
i like my cars loud tho. i really wish my rabbit was louder. these vnt turbos are just NOT LOUD at all tho.
