I've been reading most of these threads and it sounds like an awesome idea for a newer motor. I think I may invest in a 1.9 head, I'm just a bit worried about the smoke. I don't know much about 1.9 two stage injectors, but I read they will fit a frankenmotor. Would these help the smoke issue? I wouldn't be necessarily looking for all out hp as I have a std 1.6 T3, more torque down lower is what interests me.

If you want more torque low down you should be swapping bottom ends

Well.... it's been 4 years... I FINALLY got off my ass and starting putting this thing together after my injection pump bracket bolts walked out...
yep... motor shook the bolts out... had variable pump timing... LOL, and I think that may have also been part of a few of my issues.... it was so bad I started the car, went to take it down the road, and I guess it jumped time. I took it apart and only noticed one lifter was cracked, but I decided that now was the perfect time.
had a few upgrade parts laying around, went and got a 2nd 1.9 head in better condition... and uh.... ya... just finished slapping it together, timing it, and firing it over tonight...

Can't wait to hear how it works for you.
Mine is a 1.5 bottom end with 1.9 AAZ head. It starts well, but is definitely smoky. That's OK, it's not a daily driver.
I'm not trying to start any arguments, but mine may be the only running 1.5 Frankendiesel in the USA.
167 HP, and I'm very happy with it.

When will you be "the only running 1.5 Frankendiesel in the USA with compound turbocharging"?

A 1.5 really needs boost for land speed records!

My first chance to run against an official record is in June. That will be at the Ohio Mile, which is a pavement event. As long as I don't blow it up in Ohio, the next event is Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats, in August. Speed Week is the grand-daddy of all land speed racing events.
This year, I'll be running just the single GT2056 Garrett. My credit card cannot stand any additional punishment at this time.
I'm in this for the long term, so there will definitely be future attempts with variations in hardware.

...something like "keep adding boost until you run out of fuel, then add more fuel, then add more boost, then...."
I would like to install a water injection system before August, and probably before June.
