Have now begun to reassemble stuff I've taken off to get the a/c compressor and it's mount off and gone. Likely due to AZ ... can't recall where the following part goes. According to my ETKA, the part in the image below, red on the left, is called a 'Bow' ... part #068130173A.

The image seems to indicate the fixed bolt at the bottom goes thru the bottom hole of the triangular mount for the injection pump and thru the bracket mounted to the engine; and the other section mounts to the left upper hole, with a separate nut and bolt, also thru the engine bracket.
1st question ... is that correct?

2nd ... what is it's purpose?

Thanks
1.) yes, its 100% correct
2.) its purpose is to hold the bottom bolt form turning, and to make it easier to get in and out. without that thing, life is a ***...
Yup the bottom bolt is bolted together with an external nut that is thread on.
The other two bolts are thread from the pump side of the bracket with a 13mm 1/4" drive socket wrench and screw in to stationary nuts on the bracket
the universe would implode if this "bow" did not exist... there is no room back in there lol
over here in australia the universe doesnt implode - but we do have specially bent 13mm open ended spanners :-)
mind you, its much nicer to work on hte aaz than the 1.5D :-)
It will only work one way because the pump mount has captive nuts on it You won't be able to install it wrong.
Most mk1s don't have those snazzy bars from what I have seen.
most dont. i knocked the stationary nut off the bottom bolt hole and used the strap.
Thanks to all the responses !! Have another one that has come up.
Bought a non a/c bracket from a fellow who sent along an item with it that I did not recognize as having come with the stuff I took off. Here is the item ... have not yet cleaned it up ...

Went back to the fellow and asked what it was for. He sent along a picture that guided me how it is mounted ... on the front part of the engine bracket that holds the IP. Here is an image of my having placed it in place, showing that the fasteners match up perfectly ...

My question is ... what is the little hole at the top for? Again, when taking off all the a/c bracket & stuff, this part was not there ... nor was there anything that I can recall as being in that region.
UNLESS ... unless ... it has something to do with the timing belt cover. I am temporarily trying to put things in place since the non a/c setup is different from the a/c system ... so that I can see what other parts, bolts, etc. I might need. So if this is timing belt cover involved, have not 'fiddled' around with that as of yet.
Thanks

bingo. its the bolt hole to fasten the timing cover.
