As the title states, I pulled the blown turbo off my 97 aaz and was curious as to which other turbos, if any, would bolt on directly without any other fab work? Probably a dumb question but Im a noob and just getting into diesels. Thanks

So far as I know, nothing.
It's the K14 and K24 that share a flange pattern, as I recall, and I think they also swap around with the Garrett T3 and maybe T2 diesel turbos.

KO4/KO3 HYBRID is a option $$$$
T3 Oil return is a two bolt flange specific to this model ( flange to Banjo )
T2 & T3 are four bolt manifold's, KO3 is Different manifold
You will have to go to another manifold and Turbo or Hybrid
K14 and K24 have a female swivel to Banjo fitting at the bottom of the return hose to the block
KO3 has a two bolt adapter oil return hose to a Banjo fitting on block ( smaller outlet than the T3 )
I have a Brand V.W. New T3 and a AAZ T2 manifold if you are looking

a K03 is the only one that bolts to that manifold. specifically, a diesel K03. so you either need to rebuild that one, or get a used one if you are looking for cheap. the K03/K04 hybrid is an option, but im pretty sure they are over a grand.

im just comparing that to the price of a brand new ball bearing turbonetics T3 turbo. it was around 800 brand new if i remember right. and it seems like alot better turbo than some tiny hybrid unit. besides, i wasnt directing that towards you, i try not to ever direct anything towards you, because you never have any useful technical information. just where to locate parts and spend money. you remind me of toby, a really annoying parts salesman at napa auto parts. besides, im sure the poster is going to spend a grand on some hybrid turbo when he isnt even completely sure whats going to fit on there in the first place.
but yea, i wasnt directing any insults at you in the first place, i just think that the turbo you have is over priced. but if you want to take insult to it, thats fine, because im really good at insulting people... just kinda useless to do it online.

No problem..
I do manufacturing for aircraft parts ( seals & Intake Duct's ) 465 different models of aircraft
I purchased a new engine ( 1.9 AAZ )and wanted to build it up right the first time..
This is just a project, I have a 08 997TT with ceramic brakes and Dymag wheels that I drive16k miles per year, Ti exhaust, ECU flash etc.
All this stuff is dirt cheap compared, this is my second build with my son and we went with a diesel this time.
Started with a 81 caddy with a bad core support with 35k original.
South African front end then paint, G60 brakes,MKII pedal swap, coilovers, axle flip
2.'5 complete S/S exhaust.

I do mfg. some MKI & MKII parts that are no longer made
next: AAZ silicone coolant hoses assy's ( Kit )
