Greetings all,
I'm replacing my dead 1.6TD engine with 1.6GTD. Car is Golf Mk1.
Since it is mechanically almost straight in replacement, i have a couple of questions considering sensors and that sort of things...
1. Electrical water pump (above oil filter). Does it work constantly while engine is running or only after you turn it off for some time (as I have been said)? Wihch is the + pin on the water pump?
2. On oil cooler there is a sensor, what is it for?
3. Also, there is some plug (for two wires) on turbine housing, what is it for?
Sorry for potentially bad english
Cheers

P.S. I hope I've put topic in the right section.
2. On oil cooler there is a sensor, what is it for?
It is one of 2 oil pressure switches. The other is on the side of the cylinder head.
does it same as the other?
so I can leave it disconnected

Cheers
I can't seem to upload a picture of the schematic

but here is the idea.
your turbo is water cooled, the "2 pin plug" on the turbo is a thermostat that only "opens" when a temperature is reached, this then switches the water pump on until the turbo had cooled down. On the side of your 2 connectors (turbo & water pump) there is an engraved "+".
There is a relay and a fuse in the line but basicly you power the plug on your turbo then go to the waterpump.
The whole idea is that when you turn your engine off, if the turbo is not cool enough then the water pump comes on and does it's job until the turbo is cooled down then switches off.
I'll put the schematic up when "image***" comes back
So, relay goes from 12v to +pin on pump, other pin goes to ground plus 10A? fuse and relay coil goes on 12v on one side to pin on turbo on other side, and other pin on turbo goes to ground plus one resistor to limit the current?
Cheers

edit: correcting couple of typos here and there, and finishing the post
That's exactly the info that I needed.
Thanks, people
