Look in the FAQ for where to get the thermocouple and where to mount it.

i took of my turbo today, it has a little VW / AUDI sticker and it says garrett but no other markings how do i identify it?
also my head has little cracks between cylinders, is that bad? i heard most turbo diesels have them and it no big deal.
what do you think?

You mean between the valves? It's normal, there's a limit but I forgot what it is

I forget what car you're dealing with, mk2 bentley combines gas and diesel while mk1 has separate books for gas and diesel.

oh yea, they made lots of mech headed td engines. anything before 84. you have to check piston protrusion to know what head gasket you need. you cant just look at the outside of the engine.

Yeah the engine going in my car was out of a car made 12/85 and is a solid lifter MF block. Granted the engine was probably cast long before assembly.
Don't know about that flange new, but someone in the for sale section might have one.

if its not a head gasket or an exhaust gasket, why dont you just make your own? gaskets are just paper... there are soo many oil filter box top gaskets in everything i own.

real gaskets are not necessary, take your gasket paper, lay it over whatever you want to make a gasket for, and start tapping on the outlines of the part with the hammer, it cuts the gasket paper to the exact right size. ive made millions of gaskets out of random pieces of card board and poster board. but i like using real gasket paper better.
