I do not want to use a "regular turbo" those are for fanboys and weak minded storm troopers *star-wars joke* I want a challenge and I want the benefits thereof.

I want either a vgt, or vnt, but every time I search I get these huge holset deals from 6.0L and up or nothing but porn. So how bout it folks, can I even get one of these and if I can where from? I want to have boost at low speed, but because of the monster under the hood that demands more boost "in the department of 30+" I need something that still has kick in the top end too for diesels. Oh, and I also cannot continue my build without information such as which turbo? which exhaust manifold? which intake? intercooler and piping options? oil cooling and lines? egt guages and psi/boost guages? and so many more important factors rely on the correct selection of the turbo for my particular build. Can anyone help? I have used the search and found some euro garret turbos, however, as best as my google magic tells me these cannot be found in the states. Someone please prove me wrong

thanks guys, and happy holidays,
Kevin

I have also looked into supercharging options, they seem very promising low lag constant power throughout the powerband but I would really like to try one of the VGT/VNT's I personally have never used one before, and would love to have the first hand experience.

HMMMMMM..... *ponders* as awesome as that sounds, to run a turbo and a superchargerI'll prolly have to go with either the vnt 20 or something bigger in a twin setup. thanks guys, and turbogreasel I wasn't aware that there was freedom in CA? I thought all of the liberals took care of that all ready? JK

my VNT 17 was way more than enough air... but if you are going balls out, you need something bigger. you can probably get about 160 horse out of a VNT 17.

It's all custom stuff unless you buy a very pricey new turbo from kerma or tdiparts (around $1500) . I recently bought a brand new vnt25 for $200. It's definitely on the big side and there's a lot of mods I need to do to get it to fit but it shows it is possible to find something for cheap. Your best bet is to keep checking the euro ebays for a good deal.

Check the build thread, I definitely want the twin setup, already doing research the setup is going to be a challenge *giggles with glee* thanks for all of the help, I'm thinking a 15 coupled with a 20 for maximization of low end and high end power, with the giles pump this baby is gonna scream.

Probably with gt1749vb, but never with gt1749v. 17 series are used in 90-150hp tdi:s from factory. gt2052v from 2,5 V6 will spool alone just fine and is good to ~180hp.

17/22 hybrid sounds pretty good, anything I need to know? too much boost, melted pistons, warped heads, and bent rods doesn't sound like my neighborhood

what kind of results can I exspect from this, anyone done it? the twin turbo setup is pretty much shot down

17/22 will flow more and spool faster than a 17.

Yes, a K24 turbo and running 44psi. I know, I know, its not good for it, but its not boosted for more than maybe 2-3 seconds. So far so good. I will be using the Mec. T3 turbo on the drag engine.
