AAZ pumps are not kosher.
Just to be clear... VW used many different versions of Bosch pumps on the AAZ engine... only one of which is the "eco" version that has no LDA and a small cam plate.

Turns out I like you and Jerry, have the same eco/non LDA pump. When I first saw this thread, I was like hey that looks just like my pump, and when I saw Andrew's reply I was like string of expletives that will not be repeated for the sake of this forum. However also like Jerry, my pump is in the hands of a man named Giles, yes it is pricey, but a good solution to this problem.

at least we are not alone, misery loves company right? eco pump fail

Good luck

My incentive for posting certainly wasn't in order to create strings of expletives, but the fake pump's flat LDA cover is a dead giveaway.
is the smaller cam plate a big thing?
is it smaller then 1.6?
if i could i would like to keep and tune this pump as it has less miles than the 1.6 gtd one...

so.., on an aaz pump with the 'straight gauge' LDA does one need to replace the small pin that rides on the 'cone' as well when doing the diaphram swap, or is it a simple exchange (except for the previously mentioned ...fulcrum for part of the control collar lever assembly..and i'm guessing the starwheel?

and remove the rod that the control collar rides against.

It is the longer metal rod poking down from the top of the picture and aimed directly at the black governor shaft.

the fuel collar lever hits it and limits fuel. if you take that black flat piece sticking up directly behind the governor, and push it towards the front of the pump, it will hit that pin, and limit the fuel. you need to get rid of the pin or you basically have a n/a pump.

It won't work too well if you don't swap the advance system and regulator. from your old pump.

i backed my pin out till it was flush with the inside of the pump and epoxied it around the outside. doesnt leak.

why don't you just swap the old pump to this engine?
the Bosch seal kit costs ~13€

if i could do the trick with this and with the parts of a damaged 1.6 i have i could sell the good gtd pump i have...
also, this pump looks mint and has low km so respecting to wear wins by far the gtd one...
