prothe pistons are 189 bucks. and there are people on here running them with ZERO problems.
Ummm, no. Do I look like an R-tard? I just had a guy come and look at a block I was selling. He was telling me about these crappy pistons he bought, where the wrist area was WAAAY under spec on in every way. I asked him where he bought them: "Some guy named Pete Rothenbacher, or something."
I'd rather take my chances with drilling for oil in the block.
not the same, but i have seen a 1.6td converted to a gas engine but pretty much everything was replaced and the block was bored a good bit
no dude, im talking the other way. take a gas engine and make it a diesel.
where do I get sad block? my boneyard has only gassers
You must go to the same boneyards i go to. lol
Nothing but gas engines in the VW's.

yeah i know i was just saying that the blocks are similar, i never heard of using a gas block before tho, but a 1.6 gas engine is probably just as hard to find, a 1.7 shouldn't be tho
1.6 gas hard to find? are you kidding me? there are so many on this side of the united states. most people cant even give them away around here. i see them all day long on craigslist for 50 bucks.
1.6 sounds like a plan, but I want to be absolutely sure this will work. Are there any modifications that have to be done to convert the gas 1.6 to diesel? oil pump installation will be different I'm sure and the question still remains do I drill the hole for the oil squirters? will everything fit stock? I can only guess that the bore is the same just the cranks were sroked out for that particular engine.

Thanks,
Kevin
