Depends on the tdi intake but it would probably be pretty similar unless you had a much higher flow intake like a pd150.
Yes, you can use the 1.6td exhaust manifold on the AAZ. It is a direct bolt-on.
hey torch
when I first saw this post I thought you found the 16V engine I sold - but nah..
im gonna build a 16v 1.5TD i think. im going to have access to a full machine shop for 3 months while im at work in alaska. Ford 7.3 fuel injectors seem like the best injector candidate also. they are really really long and skinny. like they would almost fit in a spark plug hole as they are. but i will have to change the thread in the head of course. i think its possible. and HOLY CRAP... think of all the boosted air a 16v head would flow? and since a 16v head is already an 11mm head bolt unit, its compatible with old 1.5's and 1.6's. i once dreampt of a 16v diesel. had a diesel short block sitting in the shop, one day i came home with a 2.0 head someone gave me, set it on the diesel block. it would look so god damn cool to have one of these. im not sure what we would do about intakes tho, since the fuel pump sits about where the lower half of a 16v intake sits.
i think you're going to need to make a new pump bracket. but you'll need new fuel lines either way. good luck, it will be neat to see if it's possible.
if i actually get off my ass and do it, i will get it done. there will pretty much be nothing stock in the top end of the engine. gonna have to figure out how im gonna find a timing belt that will fit the 16v sprocket. i would just put a 2.0 crank sprocket on there to slove that problem, but there still needs to be a 16v sprocket for the injection pump, and i would need to find a belt with the right length and tooth pitch. god, this is starting to get hard to even think about. but it would RIP if it ever got built.
