1.9TDI manifolf n mkII GTI head on AAZ?

Hey guys!!
I've heard that 1.9TDI intake manifold flows a lot better and is bolts on the 1.9AAZ?? And gti MKII 16V heads can be used on the AAZ... is that true??
I am starting a performance AAZ overhaul so i was looking into these things...Appreciate the input!

The gasser head won't work! unless your confused with people building performance petrol engines and using a diesel bottom end because it's stronger?

Are you sure thats how it is. Cuz the guy who told me about this was damm sure that I can go GTI head with a 1.9AAZ block for a fast diesel motor.
And can I use the TDI manifold??

one thing...
where the F*** are you going to put fuel injectors?
a GTI head has no accomodations for glow plugs OR fuel injectors.
so, without those, your pretty much going to have a neat motor that will never do anything.
unless you bolt CIS on there and screw some spark bolts in the head. but then it honestly wouldnt be a diesel engine anymore. so, for all rights and purposes, the guy that told you this was either high, or has it backwards and is building a bullet proof gas engine.

even if you bolted a 16v head on your aaz how would you get the fuel pump to fit

Anyz... can I use the 1.9TDI intake manifold on the AAZ head?? Is possible and can I bolt on K24 turbo onto it?

If I'm not mistaken, the 16v gas heads also still use 11mm head bolts, so you'd need to bore and ream out the holes to fit it to a 12mm AAZ block.
Is it possible he was thinking of the new 16v TDI heads on the brand spanking new CBEA common rail engines?
You should be able to bolt a K24 turbo to the AAZ if you find an appropriate K24 (or T3? I think) exhaust manifold. If I'm not mistaken (and someone correct me if I am, please!) the K14, K24, T3 and T2 VW diesel turbos share an exhaust flange pattern, so they're plug and play swappable on that front. The TDI intake manifold should have the same port shape as the AAZ, so you ought to be good there.
*Disclaimer: I've never owned an AAZ, never even put my hands on one, and I don't own a TDI. All my statements come from forum trawling.

sdi or 1y manifold will flow better. tdi manifold will probably flow better but not by much.

All the 1.9 intake manifolds are the same bolt pattern/port shape. All the 8v exhaust manifolds are the same (1.6 and 1.9). The 1.6 intake manifold is different from the 1.9 intake manifold but the bolt pattern is the same. The 1.6 has round ports and the 1.9 has D-shaped ports. The 1.9 intake flows better. Do not use the 1.6 intake on the AAZ head because you will have more restrictive flow than the stock AAZ manifold.
So...YES, you can use the 1.9 intake manifold on your AAZ head and YES, you can use a k24 from a 1.6 but you want to also have the trapezoidal exhaust manifold that will fit the k24, NOT the triangular flange type that may be found on some AAZ's.

You CAN run an AAZ -blocked diesel with a KR head ( 1.8 16V)
...But it'll have to be an m-TDI...
You just put the injectors were spark plugs would be, and use an inlet manifold pre-heating system
instead of traditional IDI glow plugs.
My friend Aki was about to do this on his Evo 2 diesel engine, but cost issues killed it off.
Some very strong custom pistons would have to be made, because no stock VW piston
would give the correct compression ratio. An SDI block would be better than AAZ one for this kind
of a hybrid too.
So, the guy who told you it's possible, was right
...although I really suspect he didn't quite know how difficult it would be in practice!!!

So you say 1.9AAz intake is better for AAZ head than a 1.6 intake. But is the 1.9TDI intake better than the 1.9AAZ intake?
So if the AAZ exhaust manifold is trianglar,I cannot use it with K24. But Can I use the exhaust manifold of a 1.6? Because I think 1.6 exhaust manifold is trapezoidal.
Thanks turboJ.... But I too cannot afford all that custom pistons. But it sure can be hell of a motor!
