installed the block heater last night, and now hard starts in the morning are a thing of the past. still need to time my pump though. all to come when I get my new tools.

Thing runs amazing now. sooooo happy. best 25 bucks i ever spent

been working on trying to tidy this thing up lately. removed the center console, and kinda like it better that way. trying to hide some wires and run a new power supply for my gps. Also got my glow plug switch carved into a dummy switch next to the defrost.


Got some new duraterms for nine and change from parts geek, and finished my electrical upgrade. t6 after years of drooling over your guys', I finally shelled out the coin. local napa has em for 149


sad to say though, that if i end up getting the mk1 i want next week, this thing is goin bye bye. :'(

bought new fuel line to run new ones from the tank to the filter, and from the pump back to the tank.

still have to drain the tank, and put in the diesel sending unit and wire it
run new fuel lines
wire the alternator and starter
install new glow plug harness....
When did you purchase new fuel lines for send and return from the tank? My dealer has them for $40 each. Is there anywhere you can buy the bulk hard plastic tubing that is used in these cars? My return line has a block...

I only ran lines from the sender to just in front of the fuel pump that you quoted to the nylon lines that I think you are talking about. If you dont want to get the nylon, just run fuel hose all the way up. just make sure its secured real well.

I suppose its the stiffer nylon lines that I'm looking for; All the way from the engine bay back to the tank. EFI Nylon Fuel Line? Is that what it's called? Thanks for the help.
So you keeping the Jetta or going with the Mk1?

any fuel line that is rated for use with diesel fuel, and can be used under vacuum (sucking of the ip).. should be good to go.

So I sold my beloved little experiment yesterday, and am getting ready to deliver her to the new owner. It's a little saddening but its time has come. I don't have the time to tinker with the little bugs that come up with it now, and the new owner seems like a good person in a crappy situation who needs a car right now. He's never had a diesel but seems happy to learn. When on the test drive, he beat it like a gasser, which I kinda had to let him know about the world of diesel.

. Car was sold in the parts section and sold as parts in the bill of sale. lets all wish this guy good luck.........

for your glow plug set up. it looks nice. did you make a on off switch? how does the solenoid work? why is it needed. im doing my first swap aswell.
i was thinking running it inside and just have a switch to power on and off.

1st....same as GP 4 sp
2...pretty much the same
3...great for in town/city driving
4..great for the 45 mph speed limits where the 4 speed just plain sucks
5..70 all day long in a n/a mk2 in comfort
With the ACN, the difference is all about 3 and 4.

hey you swap is looking good.
i did a swap pretty much the same as yours.
i have a problem. my car wont heat up as much maybe half way. changed the thermostat and it only goes about 1/3 on the gauge. blows somewhat worm air when parked as soon as you start driving. cold air. i have the gasser big radiator.
does your heat work on highway speeds?
