Hey guys.. I just fired my samurai up to do some more testing and noticed the serp belt is kind of flopping around a little. But as soon you give it some throttle it stops. Is that normal? its a brand new goodyear gator belt (and the crank pulley is turning straight and even).

did you replace the tensioner? and the roller?
A small bit of flapping at idle is reasonably normal, at least on AAZs I've seen... assuming that everything is straight and round and not wobbling.
Having said that... if you have a solid alternator pulley you'll have a lot more flap, even at idle, than with the clutched pulley. That flap is at least partly about the alternator and harmonic balancer fighting each other.
thanks for the replies.. I replaced the roller because the engine didnt have one when I got it. The tensioner seems strong still. Glad to hear there is some flap I'll probably carry a spare belt though just in case
Just so you know , one of the reasons why AAZ crank pulleys wear is because of that big load/unloading of the belt and therefore pulleys.
