smoking like mad
engine sounds ok
now oil is literally running out the exzaust
is it likely to be seal on turbo, or something worse???
thanks

Take the oil filler cap off the car with it running and rev it up. That says filler, not filter just to be clear  If you get plums of smoke coming out, it's an engine problem. If not, it's more then likely your turbo. It could be as simple as a clogged air filter

it did smoke the other day when took cap off whilst running
but was empty on oil anyway
would that not make it smoke??
if it is that, whats it likly to be wrong??
turbo seams to spool up ok
i hope its not engine failure
its in a vwt4
abl engine
i have an aaz engine with less mile i could fit
hope its not that serious though!!

well you'll have to recognize the difference between oil vapour and obvious blow by. Blow by is what you would be seeing coming out of that breather. Some is expected. You could post a video of it?
I'd take Tyler's advice and try running the engine without the air filter and see if there is still heaps of oil. I guess if the oil has made it all the way to the end of the tail pipe ... it would take a long time to see if it has stopped bleeding oil.

Hang on, I never said I'd run the motor without the air filter.
If it's coming out the oil filler cap it's usually rings. You should do a leak down and compression test to see if the engine is worth investing in.

not rings, or blocked filter
started from cold no worries today
ran pretty fine
its only got first section of exaust on
the oil literally poors out, after driving for about 5 mins, you can see it running out of zaust, no smoke on tick over, just oil running
oil light came on after 5 mins as i said
anyone had anything similar, or think its possible from turbo oil seal having gone, would it pass so quicky, or just smoke its tits off??
thanks

You could have a blocked turbo oil return line or blocked crank vent line. Either can cause oil to blast out of the turbo.
Andrew
so check alll breathers and hoses, and oil feed to turbo??
i hope its nothing major!!!
thanks

well no/low oil pressure and leaking a steady amount of oil out of the exhaust i'd say is a serious issue in it's self
If the turbo was infact forcing oil into the hot side wouldn't that be an oil seal issue? ergo a non-serious but i somewhat decent weekend repair job?
(tyler i know you didn't say go no air filter. I didn't mean to come across like that. sorry. I meant just try idling with no air filter and be sure not to pour your collection of steel/allum filings into the intake hose.)
