Where can I get the gasket that goes where the turbo bolts to the exhaust manifold?

In the case of the stock TD trapezoidial turbo flange, your only option will be a VW dealer.

There available but not necessary.
There wasn't one there from the factory.

Exactly. It's not needed. Both surfaces are suppose to be precision ground though

I hand lap the sealing surfaces and use a light smear of Permatex Ultra Copper. I've never had one leak.
Andrew
That sounds the best option to meeeeeeeee
I'm going to do that now.

I just realized what we were talking about.
I ordered that from Prothe two weeks ago. I thought they were the inside gaskets of the turbo.

I think if you are having a leak and cant take it appart to lap the surface's then Prothe's gaskets are good but if your not experiencing a leak there is no reason.
On the other hand I can see there being a leak after using a gasket as the metal may flex around the sealing surface of the gasket causing it to warp ever so slightly so next time you wont have a choice to either lap the surfaces or get gaskets again.

I'm not rebuilding the turbo (Edit: anymore that is. i don't know what im doing and since there is no play in the shaft i don't have to). I thought there were gaskets that i had to replace when i took it off the head but as stated you don't need to... so ... i guess i wasted 10 bucks.
However, the square one did come off my set up at some point and it looks pretty beat.

went through this for a few weeks awhile ago...
- My VW Dealership does not list a gasket in the ETKA. (They printed the picture for me) They said there is not one there.
-Local german parts stores that can get all german parts, could not get it.
- No diesel shop in town (even the guys who do garrett turbos) has the gasket.
I bought one from Prothe off EBAY. he shipped the wrong one, (K03, not T3) and I ended up buying another set to get them ASAP.
If you have a K03, I will happily send you these gaskets, just return what I paid.
