• Hi guys,
  
  I need to remove the injection pump on my brother's 90 Golf in order to remove the a/c, alt bracket (busted bolt inside the bracket).  I don't have much experience working on diesels (but almost 20 years experience on A1/A2 VW's) and was wondering if it's possible to remove/move the IP out of the way and bolt it back up without having to set the pump timing.   I just need to move it enough to gain access to the bracket bolt(s?) underneath.

• definitly needs to be retimed. If you are just rotating the pump, you could probably get away with just marking the pumps location relative to the bracket. I'd use 2 lines just to be safe
