If it still turns over it's problaby fine. Even though this one looked as bad as it did Giles still had me clean it because it might have been savable. I doubt yours is anything near this bad.

i think this is a good example of why people should not store their pumps
dryi suppose filling it with something like ATF for extended periods (or even just a few months in some cases), with ALL ports carefully blocked off, should suffice right???
i dont think many people realize that diesel does break down...

ATF will last a very long time.
You use the same priers as me Tyler
and that weird black handled one came out of my donut in the trunk. It has a use?

I love my black screwdrivers from MK2s. I have 2 of them. One in Philips mode, one in Standard mode.
Yes if this pump had beren stored full of any fluid (Except water) it would definitly not have been in this state.
The pump was in florida so the humidity is probably what did it in so fast.

I actually had to clean a pump that has been using biodiesel today. I had to acid dip it to get the biodiesel residue off the parts, and even then it only softened it and I had to brush it off.
I'll ask Giles what he recomends. I know all of our core pumps on the shelves are stored dry and they are fine on the inside (cracked 2 open today). Basically keep them away from moisture and they should be ok

would super low viscosity oil be a good choice?
Some nice synthetic or something.
Just a thought though
Any residual oil wouldn't matter either... diesel is after all basically oil.

I got a set of injectors that were used on biodiesel and SVO, they reek!! plus, I had a hard time getting them clean.
moiture+(diesel, svo or biodiesel)=trouble
