I just installed a boost gauge in my jetta nd noticed that when cruising along I maintain 5-7psi at 75mph, even 5psi at like 55mph... is this normal??
Now I can really see how putting a FMIC would be extremely beneficial to these cars as I attain 10psi quite regularly and having the almost exact same spec turbo in my Daytona I know from having a Probe mounted AFTER the IC that sustained boosting of 10-12psi like that does start to make some heat, of course that was with the factory IC but still
On my '97 1.9TD I maintain a steady 6-8lbs at a 100km/h (60mph) level cruise. At 120km/h (75mph) I get about 10psi. I would consider your figures normal for a 1.6TD with its larger turbo.
Sounds about right to me too. I would expect to see about 3 or 4 psi on a stock A1 1.6lTD cruising at 65mph on flat road.
my guage shows about 3psi at 75mph (120km/h) cruising for my A2 Jetta 1.6 TD and it will only peak at 9psi at full boost.
modded intake (Intake from one of my dodge turbo's stuck where airbox was and used clamp to make it O instead of oval, then a cone filter thrown on the end) and hacked exhaust before axle net's me 12psi now at the upper rpm's. Less smoke than before and my back tire looks like metal and not black soot now
I make about 2psi at 75mph, it barley registars on the gauge, but I can make 22psi in first gear if I choose.
