Ok here it goes..I put a 88 1.6 td in my Suzuki buggy...I did the governer mod....steel headgasket and non stretch bolts also intercooled it.I wanted to change it to serpintine belt ,,,,in my serch for a crank sprocket i got a 93 1.9td engine for free. But.....the top of the IP was not on it . other than that it is complete. My Question is what can I/should I use off the 1.9 on the 1.6 to gain a little more hp/tq? The IP cam plate?IP head?
I already have a pyrometer before you ask...lol
Thanks!!!

you could use the bottom end of the 1.9 and a 1.6 head... that's a pretty good tq gain right there. plus it might be easier to get the serp setup working on that engine, just make sure to get the crank nose fixed if isn't already.

You'd have kind of high compression though unless you took a bit off the pistons. Plus don't the 1.9 heads breathe better anyway which is why people put them on the 1.6?

Was this a 1.9NA converted to td? What is missing from the IP, the LDA?

Well the serp setup will bolt right on. If you feel like taking it apart again putting the 1.9 head on will net you the biggest gain, short of using the whole engine.
Is this for off road use only?
You might find the 1.9 turbo better suited (depending where you're RPMs normally sit) rather then the 1.6 turbo which is bigger

he has a 1.6 crank and 1.9na pistons, i dunno what rods are in it, i think he used a 1.6 head so he could get solid lifters. but it ends up being a 1.7. cool ass car

I'd probably try to find a smaller turbo. The k26 will take a while to spool up. A k14 would probably work well as it spools fairly quickly. Not positive, but I think t3's spool faster than a k26 also. I will eventually be helping a friend of mine with a tube frame Zuk rock buggy, and was thinking the fastest spooling turbo I could find would be, but I might get surge then. I did have a k-14 on my 1.9 when I first got it, and it did spool very well.

I think the k14 turbo is ok,so...we'll say the turbo issue sorted out. Now what would you guys recommend?

the current turbo on that thing should suffice right?
