Hi,
can I safely disassemble and reassemble an injector, for cleaning purposes, without doing damage or messing anything up?

The vast array of Worldpac suppliers has them at around the $15 dollar mark each.
BTW... it would be helpful if your QTH was in your profile... the answers to questions like this can be different depending on where on the globe you live !

Which nozzles are you referring to at $15?
www.autohausaz sells the 0434 250 103 nozzles for about $8-9.
but the 0434 250 138 (DNO SD273) nozzles are $26.64.
I bought the latter, but I'd rather pay $15 than $26.64

Of course they're out of stock at the moment... so they don't appear in the price listings, but I just bought four 173s for 15 bucks each from bestpriceautoparts.ca.

Injectors are very precise devices.
Wear clean gloves lubricated in diesel. The acids in your finger's oils can permanently etch the unprotected surface of the nozzles.
Always keep the injector nozzles separate from each other. The nozzles are closely matched to their nozzle body. The injector bodies have a specific thickness spring shim to set he pop pressure.
And as always, use a torque wrench to put them together, don't just muscle them tight.

Sorry to thread jack but... Do you have to pop test them after following the rebuild procedure?

no. but it is a really good idea! spray pattern is much more crucial than pop pressure, unless the pop pressure is way off and starts to affect timing.

My vote would be "yes"; it's a great idea to test/calibrate them after rebuilding... for a couple of reasons:
- I personally find the rebuilding process tends to up the breaking pressure... sometimes substantially. Perhaps I lap too much... ;-)
- quite possible to get a bum nozzle from the factory, or have something in the injector bind etc. Both have happened to me.
- it's nice to confirm they are not going to leak *before* installation

if you have a TD pump that has the LDA on top use the 155 bar injectors!
