Hi,
I want to add oil squirters to the block of my Mk2 (86, JP Code) 1.6 NA block while I'm doing a rebuild.
I was just wondering if someone could give me an indication of where exactly I need to drill and tap and / or any additional info that might be relevant while I'm at it.
Thanks,
Fionn.
planning on turboing? turbo's have bigger oil pumps too. it helps cope with the extra oil flow.
not sure how to explain where they are... i'm sure someone has a pic
The squirters are for additional cooling. You could also achieve the same thing by ceramic coating the piston tops. That might be a easier cheaper option.
You'd likely need a TD block to use as a template to get the angles, drill depths, and positions correct, the squirters could also be sources from a 9a 16v block or an OBD1 2.0 ABA block. You'd almost certainly need to involve a machine shop.

Agreed.
But also, Heres a crappy quality pic to give you an idea:
EDIT: Oh yeah, I should note that this is a pic from a D24T, and I think the oil squirter setup is slightly different. Sorry, I didn't think of this before.

Goodluck.

Thanks for the photo man, it's a great help. I have a spare n/a block so I might do a bit of um, experimentation with a drill bit
but you would also need the TD pistons, they are notched to miss the Oil squirters.
Dan
How big is the notch? Anyone got a pic of a td piston skirt?
Wasn't taking a picture of the notch when I took this pic.
