...Thats why i got a fox wagon!!

Time for a diesel swap!!!
it sounds as if you either have some issue with the fuel system getting air in over time, or possibly a stuck ring/lifter or two.
do you have a lift pump? i highly recommend getting one of those cheapie pumps. search for solid state fuel pump from facet. i'm running one right now, and it delivers just enough fuel & pressure to give me great starts each and every time.
well started the car again today, and no problems. No smoke, no sputtering...musta just been from sitting for a week...odd.
Completely normal. I'm not sure if the Canadian MK II had a Catalyitic converter, but all late MK IIs here in the US (gasser or ECOdiesel with cats) will smoke a bit of white after sitting a while. It's just condensation that's built up in the cat/exhaust (or fuel). Obviously, not a concern as it's already cleared up.
