Title: 1.6td setup
Post by: bryanb on July 12, 2014, 06:59:16 pm
I know it is a T3 and a Giles pump but I don't know any specifics. What should it be capable of with the plans of a inter cooler. As of now it peeks at 11psi and runs 10. Are there adjustments and things I should know.

looks nice!

If you add an intercooler I would just add a manual boost controller and set it to 20psi
My 1.6 rebuilt with a T3 pulled hard at 20, with your giles pump it'll be even better

As well check your timing, Giles pumps are tuned to run at a certain spec.  perhaps getting in touch with him is your best option there

Ok so I got a Godspeed intercooler all set up and have a voodoo II boost controller but not 100% how or where to install it. I think it is the rubber line in the third pic from original post. Here is a pick of the linter cooler I ordered a 2 inch piping setup but got 2.5 somehow so I just made it work.

I also just picked up a similar intercooler and I'm mounting in the same position on my mk1.. What'd you do for mounts if I may bug you? Also curious to see how this turns out?

I'm curious too. These things seem to have two big round bosses top and bottom.

I think i may have to trim my core support to fit my IC in. And even then i worry that mounting might interfere with the hood release cable.

Believe it or not it has 3 of the electric fan mount that run through a rubber piece the core then the rad then another rubber piece and a locking tab. Then when I put the brackets on the rad it pinched it just right and it dosnt move. I still want to add some sort of bracket to the welded bungs on the top or bottom of the core but haven't got that far yet.

ok, that sounds like something that will ultimately cause you to need a new radiator. GLWS.
