N/A IDI: hard fuel line to injector connection
« on: May 31, 2007, 11:25:26 am »
Hi gang!

The motor is a 2.4 I-6. Volkswagen built, Volvo chassis.

No matter, really, this question should apply to any IDI VW-built Diesel.

I have a leak where the hard fuel line meets the injector. I've re-torqued the 17mm nut to the point where I don't want to turn it any more.

Still, it leaks. Is there supposed to be a seal there? If not, Is this the sign of a bad line, a bad injector, or something else entirely?

Thanks,

Evan

Undo the both ends, wiggle the pipe a bit and retighten the pipe, usually it reseats the flared end of the pipe into the injector,if not its a new hard line

Yes, the hard line unions can become flattened if overtightened, and stop sealing. Maybe if you had some kind of flaring/crimping tool you could restore it?
