Swapping bottom ends, I was burning more oil than diesel. Before and after cleanup.
The alloy is definitely softer than stock. When I removed the turbo bolts with an impact, the extension touches the edge of the head and dented the head at the edge much more than OE.
The off-white deposits..are those the oil it was burning?

Wow, not the normal micro-cracks between valves on that head. Cleaned up as it is, I would say slap it on and give it a go.

That is a nice looking TD head.
Like ORC said, it's rare to have no cracks between the valves.
One way to tell if it's warped is to remove the cam caps and lifters.
Then see if the cam teeter-totters in the head.

This head was put on brand new about a year ago after a timing belt break - my old OEM head was trash. Ive only put on about 5k miles so far.
It's the aftermarket Made in Spain stuff.

The head is a big part of the puzzle.
Nice to have a good one you can swap over to the fresh block you are building.
