intercoolers: g60, passat, and an audi 5k
« on: April 29, 2006, 01:25:49 pm »
so i have collected a few inter coolers, 1 audi 5k one, which is the biggest and probably the ideal one i would want to use, but it is pretty thick which makes me think it would be hard to stuff behind my grill.  then there is the g60 one, which is way too thick and i don't plan on using it.   and the passat one, which seems to be thin and fits behind the rad nice, but  it's smaller than my audi 5k intercooler, so i dunno which would be best to use, any input?

g60:

similar to the passat one:

idunno,i heard the audi ones are good, but the plastic end tank  give out around 25 psi or so,,my  audi buddy said you can run a band around them,or weld on custom end tanks, thats what i may do

yeah i pulled my grill and i was looking, it appears the audi one will fit, i might just have to drill some holes in the radiator mounts and then tilt the rad back a little bit., if that doesn't work it's not gonna hurt me to use the passat intercooler

yeah i figured i could just redrill the tabs on the radiator and tilt to back, cause all i really need is like another .5-1 inch of clearance.  the other problem is where the hose connects to, the one is great where it's at, but the other one is vertical, so i guess an elbow would be needed, unless someone wants to break out a plastic welder.
