just noticed i hadn't bought a crank bolt for my rebuild.
I hear that the original 6 point (iic with captive spacer/washer) has been superseded by a 12 point, but i don't have a part number for that.
I know the diesel crank bolts are longer than gassers. GAP and autohausaz don't list a crank bolt for my car (84 jetta 1.6d).
I haven't gone and dug it out yet, but it sounds like it is up to 55mm long according to sources, that may include the spacer length.
Looks like one suggestion is the bolt for AAZ/1y/1z/AHU aka N90577101 -- 12 point skirted bolt, 47mm long, TTY at 60-some foot pounds
I could also just order a class 10.9 m14x1.5 55mm bolt and a thick washer / spacer from Fastenal and torque to the original 140-some ft/lb - this guy:

Opinions?
