Congratulate me!
« on: April 21, 2014, 08:48:52 pm »
I FINALLY DID THE GOVERNOR MOD! Woot!

And after reading a dozen threads of people having trouble after opening up their pump and having to pull it all back apart... I was scared to death.

But I sealed mine back up, no leaks, no weird throttle issues. Got the shaft back bang on the first time. Everything went super smooth! I feel ashamed for being scared of it.

Anyway kind of a silly thread but I feel accomplished and thought I'd share. Anyone not having done this! Do it today! Nothing scary.

Gonna order an 1/8 NPT TAP and get the egt gauge installed this week. Till then I'm gonna take it easy but the response is already very noticeable. Feels like a hot hatch now :) probably try out the timing advance mod soon too ;)

Congradulations! I commend your success! Having read plenty of horror stories on the job myself, just opening it up definitely took some nads.

BTW, a 1/8 NPT tap can be found at Home Depot, Lowes or Ace - often includes the proper drill bit as well.

Thanks! It wasn't really as bad as I thought it would be! However in my mind and from pictures I thought the governor was about 3 times a big lol. Its tiny!

Suprisingly I went to home depot, true value, a plumbing supply company and both automotive stores yesterday and they all didn't have one ;( a few places had them in their system or online but had to special order and one of them even had a place for it on the shelf but was out. He said he could get it in by Friday but amazon prime will have to me Thursday!
