It worked a little bit. I think at this time I really need a DP though.

Is there a really good person for these turbos? Someone who knows all the little porting tricks and such.

you dont need a ported turbo..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

yeah u can clean up the inlets and outlets of the turbo for better transitions and clean up the castings some so everything is smoother, but i don't think there is that much to gain, the over all flow is really determined by the size of the compressor wheel and the a/r of the exhaust housing.  never ever ever port any of the areas that fits against the compressor or turbine wheel tho.

Good to know. Is there a slightly smaller turbo that will bolt in place? I am only going to top off at 20 psi after I get an IC, and since this one is capable of so much more then I smaller one will do what I need, which is I need more boost at mid-range.

The only really "bolt on" alternative to the K24/T3 is a K14.  They are a good turbo and will definitely give you more midrange boost though they are not super common.  They can be found on some AAZ cars in Canada / Europe and on GTD 1.6 cars sold in Europe.  ~18 PSI is the upper range for a K14.

VNT swap is pretty amazing as well, when set up correctly..

What he said... VNTs are the bee's knees. Not a "bolt on" replacement as you need to fabricate something to control the vanes but it's the best overall solution if you are prepared to do the work.

I had an 02 Jetta TDI and the VNT was pretty awesome. But the crap you gotta do to make it work is so not worth it to me. I could only wish there was a bolt on super charger kit for these things.

i don't like superchargers as much, imo u don't get the boost as soon with a sc, the only time a sc gives u boost sooner is say a supercharged car and a turboed car are both cruising at 45 in 5th gear and they both throw it into second gear at the same time, the supercharged car will have the boost sooner.  but if they both stayed in 5th and floored it the turbo car would have boost sooner since its free spooling.  i've driven alot of super charged and turbo cars, they're both great but turbo is way better imo.  sc u never get full boost until the upper rpms, and thats just how it is because they can only spin the speed the engine allows.

He's someone wanting to trade a K24 for a K14. At least I thinks that's the discussion.
