ah shoot,mr.roadkill what do you mean by a cabby kneebar should be avalable?im not gettin hostile, just wonderin....
i wanted to put my center console back in and the under dash plastic....
actually i gotta check an old parts stash...i had the little shelf for the right side in my old caddy pickup i had a mk2 dash swapped into,i may have kept it.and the left side has a fuse door access and maybe a little shelf also?
i have a spare unmolested kneebar laying around from an old car its just grey/gray,not black like ol'sootyvag...i figured a 5 buck can of vinyl dye would do the trick
man the power seats are nice!amazing how good a seat can feel to you when its all adjusted right.it holds me in and i can sit with my head against the headrest actually.i guess thats why recaros are so coveted, its more than a name.
its runnin good and the roaring pipes came back.yea somethin was really wrong with the advance in that pump almost from the startup...guess i gotta save a few pennies and send it out for a redo.from what i see its easy to convert for turbo usage.i think i can scare enough parts to throw a stock td setup on it.id be nice to jave the straight pipe again to hear that whistle. .i really miss that.
thats an over the winter project though, and i should start on my 79 for the winter too.

Been busy tinkerin with all the little things.passenger side door panel, reinstalled.
Console and ducts,installed
griots bumper and trim restorer,3/4 done.

I got a new bearing for the idler also, and sourced a shorter alt belt at advance
10+685,vs the stock 10+700...i ran out of adjustment.
im thinkin an 11mm wide belt may be needed.

I also played with some red metalcast,on the reverse lamp.
i dont know how legal it is,or how much confusion its gonna cause people when i back up,as long as my inspection guy lets it go

No pics, but i hooked up the cold air intake tube, and tried some coil cleaner on the white aluminum crap.i gotta do more but that ish will buff out!!

Of course tinker,fiddle,and whatnot..
im stripping out the mk3....
the trunk CARPET seems like it'll fit in the coop.
nicer than that foam stuff on the inner sides...
and I've got no tunes either.yea the exhaust note is nice, but I need some other noise too.so I noticed the mk3s radio fits nicely.just keepin it all vw :)
now if my friend I lent my mk3 bentley to can find it,I need the mk3 wiring diagram so I can hook this bad boy up!!

Yea I could sit there for an hour or 2 and bug out the mk3 wiring, but why do that if I don't have to?
I got a friend of a friend that's gonna give me his password to elsa, but im waitin on that an d gettin itchy..I want tunes...maybe too I could swap some speakers too,id imagine the mk3 ones are a little better...yes I have the radio code :)

Did someone say they like stickers???

Ill wait on the radio deal, unless someone has the pin out schematic

Im still having an alternator belt issue.i replaced the idler/tensioner bearing to be safe, but itll stretch in a week and require retensioning.a 10+700 got maxed out so i went to a 10+685 and its close to maxed out now too.i wonder if i should try a 11mm wide belt?
other than that its runnin fine.its not snowin yet,so im still drivin..
its been a while since ive updated, and until the 15th this month i gots no tv or internets at my new house..yes house, yay me.no more tweakers and thugs lookin at my sooty girl.thats her 04 passat tdi.sort of a rare car around here.

My helpers doin some remodeling

Had to run out to ohio recently to my other house...stopped at where else?

Priorities first, sooty is safe at my job

I wish I would have known when you were going to Summit. I maybe would have met up with you. Only about an hour and a half from my place tops. That returned and clearance section gets me everytime.

Yea theman,it was last minute.i was only out a few days and had to jam the whole time.that truck i borrowed is a gashog.i spent a little over 200$ for fuel on a trip that any one of my diesels could have done for 120$ at the most.
i miss my pickup haha especially now i got a house again.
here she is all stanced out with 6 bags o'pellets

i see some cool stuff at my job, whens the last time ya saw a 50 willys overland?

Im probably not gonna do an engine swap.im gonna leave sooty alone.
maybe/ probably a turbo, and i need a wider ratio gearbox.50mph@3000rpm isnt fun except around town.

Travis sent me this,he probably?posted it...
westmoreland

This was a simple disc i made up.and made a paper gasket with rtv i let dry on it before assembly

One of my goodies i got back out in ohio.:)
It could use an advance piston.the pin came out where the cold start cam rides.
i got it staked back in but id l,ike it replaced

Thank you rising,i guess its kind of a cool story, that i got my dads car from the year i graduated hs and it still looks ok

I found the lil sticker from the back of the mk3 radio i mentioned a while ago so hopefully this will be enough for me to figure out the wiring.

This was at a job. I had to put a new exhaust system on a peashooter. In order to be a wiseass i poured a quart of motor oil in the muffler before assembly. I like doin that its one of my joys i get to do at work. Dont worry it clears up after 20 mins and now you have a well lubricated muffler

This was a job we did in the bronx recently where we needed to replace the coupling between the motor and the generator.

Oh i also turned the fuel up in sooty. Basically i turned the idle screw all the way down , then adjusted the idle per the fuel screw. Haha first run where i really got on it i fogged out the 2 lanes of traffic behind me.  Aah the good old days. Now its got enough power though itll spin the tires when ya flatfoot it in first geAr clutch out.

I hope im posting the right video links for you guys to see

Looks like you have quite an eclectic work schedule.  How's work pace after Sandy?  Is the Nor'easter keeping you busy with the reported 700 thousand without power?

And it's cool to see you installed a Bond gadget on your ccoupe:  the smoke screen! :)  Big BadPpump, funny.

I did have a serious question though.  How do the low profile 13" wheels and tires affect your speedo, acceleration, and highway mileage?

I was thinking the same thing. Also did you go with that size wheel cause it was available, or do you plan on gettin low. There is a swimming pool of wheel well goin on there. I too love the coal out the back. I really need to do the governor mod...

Yea man we were jammed up after sandy i was dodgin tree limbs and power lines. Drivin thru yards. Whatever i had to do to get to customers that were down. I wasnt down further than rye ny and that was bad enough.
The lil wheels i had to have cause i just like the old ats classics ever since i was little my dad almost got a set for his 72 2002 but he went with minilites.
Yea my speedo is about 10 mph off according to my gps. Im reading 60 and the actual speed is 50. But this thing sticks like glue now. It used to be a little tail happy and im not sure if it still is because i havent found the adhesion limit. Mileage? Still over 40 like always. Its got an awy gearbox(basically 84 gti ratios) so i was already geared short. Im sure some guys wouldnt like the 4000 rpms @true 65 mph. Hey its a bar hopper an around town car now. I woulda done wider but im not cuttin on this car. They def look small but in person they look better. Im runnin the neuspeed sport springs and had to get jom spring caps for the front to get it a little lower. I could also use these on my 79 when thats done too. Haha when people ask why such a small wheel i look at em like 20s r stupid. I roll with a 20 inch tall tire. Its ok because i have a big package. Most people with 20s and 24s must be lacking something in their pants.
It accelerates better now and would be awesome for the drags, its probably geared perfect cause its pretty easy redlining 5 th. who in their right mind drags a na though?
Hope i answered your questions :)

Ive got normal wheels on it right now so my speedo is correct. The tach is my peashooter vdo 2 inch diesel tach. What i really should do is a before and after test on turning up my pump using my gtech. Problem is i dont wanna turn it back down for the baseline :)
