More questions about pulleys ...
« on: August 09, 2012, 04:09:24 pm »
I searched and read a number of topics but i`m still not clear on single v-belt pulleys for the NA engines.

I have two AC 1.6 engines, both have identical pulleys, but I also recently got ahold of a non AC setup from a mk2 and a non AC setup from a mk1. Both also have the same size crank pulley as AC, but the mk2 setup has a slightly smaller water pump pulley. All 4 sets above are the same offset as well.

So, would it make sense to run the smaller mk2 waterpump pulley for increase water flow?

Kind of like a OEM under drive, cool. I would think that would work out, not like were spinning these diesels much past 5000 anyway right. If it fits I'd run it.

Posted out on all the others I was on prior.  But really I might like to spin the coolant a bit more than what I already have going and see if that helps with the heat exchangers on the WVO system.

But yeah, burnt with work earlier.  Best hit the hay and call it a day.  Tomorrow looks as bad.

all 4 sets have the same offset? if they do, something aint right!

the a/c pulleys should have atleast one belt width more offset..

and BTW, your engine will warm up faster with the LARGER water pump pulley.

and Jer, with the small pulley on the w/p, he would be OVER DRIVING it, not under drive..

my pulleys are underdrive..

original crank pulley was little over 6", the one on there now is a little under 4 7/8"..

i could tell a difference when i went from the big crank pulley to the small one.. it warmed up (alot) faster.

the sooner you get your engine up to op-temp, the sooner its efficient!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.
