I have the head (taking it to the M/C shop next week).  I have the 0.5mm O/S 1.5 pistons, the rods, the crank, and a bunch of other stuff.

What I don't yet have is a good 1.6 TD hydro block for the project, so I'm keeping my eyes open for a good deal on one.

If it flops, it's back to the drawing board.  If it works, I put myself in the Land Speed Racing record books.

You are very right.  It will take a whole lotta stuff for this to work out.  The engine is just one piece of the puzzle, even if it's a big piece.

too bad hes not using a vw vehicle tho.. a caddy would be much lighter..
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

I am "hopeful" that the Rampage will have slightly better aero characteristics than a Caddy, although there isn't much wind tunnel testing data for either vehicle.  Both Caddies and Rampages have had some success in the mini-pickup classes at Bonneville.
