well my aaz powered tube rock crawler is almost done. it will be getting wired up next. the engine is from a jdm 1998 golf. there is a wire going to the pump for timing retard. do i want power on this at all times?? is there any reason i would want it on a switch?? Also there is a cold start lever, pushed down is correct for regluar running right? I swear I had this all worked out, but can't find my notes anywere. thank you in advance
I know you all want pics of the engine in the buggy. But i cant remember my password, and have changed my email. I was lucky to have the one computer that keeps me logged in, but i have all pic on another.. So if any mods see this could you send me a message on how i can get my password or change it?
Go to your user control panel to change your password.
You don't need a timing retard wire... Those don't exist afaik.
The timing advance lever should be pushed towards the pulleys on the motor/away from the tranny for "regular running."
Sent from my DROID X2

the wire i'm talking about is the on the valve below the throttle return shock. for some reason in my notes its labled timing retard.?. and must have power all the time.
i tried to change my password, but it asks for my current password, that i cant remember..
I've got that same pump, just hooked it in tandem with teh shutoff solenoid. Hot all the time. It's a pollution control thing, changes timing I think based on temp.

I have mine hooked up the same way.
When not powered constantly, the solenoid retards injection timing below 3000 rpm. On some other engines, the solenoid is controlled by temp instead of RPM.
