Reboot 1.6

So here i sit, the motors back in after replacing the rear main metal seal holder and seal after the the metal one had a significant failure, my axles are in, my wires connected and dare i say it im about the take it off the jack stands where its been for the last month or so but i have a doubt, my fluids will be in later today and ill be ready for the start up, hoping and praying this one works out well, i cant help but think if this time it doesnt go well i dont think i will be pulling the motor i think ill be junking the project  :-\  hope not, but i am off to finish what i started, one way or the other...

trying not to its just the doubts going on in my mind, shes got oil,and coolant in her, shes off the jackstands now all i have to do is reprime my IP so my battery is on the charger for later tonight, ill have an assistant to help me then so i guess i will find out if its sink or swim time...

That feeling when it starts, after doing a major project, its one of the reasons I love cars. Good luck. You should film it!

I assume you have never attempted to work on an obd1 gm product I assume?

tip:
On hard to pinpoint/resolve oil leaks, pull the TB off and spin the int shaft (oil pump) with an air wrench (NOT IMPACT) to build oil pressure.

A lot better than pulling a gearbox twice.. haha.

Mr. Jaysen,

These cars are more simple than a bag of nails, not even cool nails, just nails..

tip:
When re priming the fuel system, it is going to take a lot of cranking to get the fuel up to the pump. Wait, did you take the fuel system apart at all? It may just fire right up :) However! have another car and jumper cables at the ready, because there is nothing like killing a battery for no reason, plus its hard on them.

tip:

if you pull fuel thru the lines, filter, and pump with a vacuum, then you dont have to burn your starter down cranking it to prime the system. then you only have to crank to get the diesel out the inj lines..

I got her primed up and she fired up perfect, i left it run for about 20 mins looked under the car and had maybe a drop of oil which looks like i need a new gasket to go on the oil drain plug thats where its leaking from other than that nothing yet, im still going to give it a neighborhood test trial.....

 Actually i had a 1992 Dodge Daytona IROC turbo, talk about a mess of vacuum lines and just chasing ghosts on that car lol.... I fixed that one, i guess i want this VW to work so bad because i absolutly love the car and really just want to enjoy it...

Well we have good news, i drove it around a good bit yesterday with a few gremlins, nothing to major so im happy, only question i have is what size is the screw that holds down the speedo cable on the tranny.

its a goofy 11mm headed bolt most of the time.. idk the thread size off the top of my head tho..

m6 maybe?

its the same as a normal 10mm headed bolt..
