1.6 TD fixins on an AAZ longblock
« on: July 27, 2011, 12:28:58 pm »
was wanting to put a T3 on an AAZ...can one just use the 1.6 TD oil pan on the AAZ block and use the T3 oil return without having to do any modifications? guess I was wondering about the oil supply line too any headaches with that?

the oil drain line is going to be too short.. AAZ is way taller, remember?
92 Jetta GLI - Black, 1.6D w/ GT2056V turbo..
86 GTI - 4 Door, Med Twilight Gray, Tow Machine..
86 Audi Coupe GT - Tornado Red, All Stock.. WRECKED.
89 Toyota 4Runner - Dark Grey Metallic, LIFTED!

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.

You could probably bend the feed line to make it work but the drain will be too short. You'd be better off starting with the AAZ feed line

You also need to do some gentle grinding to the turbo and/or intake manifold to get the T3 to fit, unless I am thinking of a different turbo... ???

I bought a 92 jetta TD in quebec from this french chick (yes she was hawt!) and it had an AAZ with a k24. it had the 1.6 pan so the drain line had to have been modified? It looked stock to me at the time but that was a few years ago anyways...now I have a mk1 jetta TD with a tired 1.6 and an AAZ eco on the floor in the garage. wanted to blend em but I don't want to get into any fabrication.

only 16mm taller so 3/4" might not be a problem. The aaz should drain into the block and you could probaby mate the aaz turbo drain to the t3 and drain it right into the block. shouldn't be too much fab at all and less work than swaping oil pans.
