Vacuum Cannister...where does it go?

My diesel doesn't have one (I have a feeling they didn't put it on when they were monkeying around with it.)...anyway, it's missing completely....

If its mk1 or mk2 - it won't have/need one.
Idunno know about mk3's.

The gassers had one up inside the passenger fenderwell.

mk1 had a goofy shaped unit strapped to the under side of the hood..

mk2s had one in the fenderwell..

but only the gas cars had them AFAIK..

yeah it runs fine without one, but the climate control has need of vacuum and I do want to get it working correctly because I do plan to use the A/C (OK gets hot in the summer)

Never saw a MK1 or 2 diesel with one..   Probably because the vac pump makes a constant vacuum unlike a gasser that relies on varying intake vacuum...   IF you really feel the need for one you could use one from any ole make or model...

As a side bar....those Mk. I gasoline multi-circular-pod vacuum reservoirs (located on the inner side of the hoods) are worth quite a bit of money to hotrodders who set up roadsters and such. Sold every one of them that I ever had out of salvage cars.

like everyone already stated, your vac pump makes vacuum whenever the engine is running. and how often are you going to have the a/c on without the engine driving the a/c pump?

diesel cars did not come with a vacuum canister from the factory. IDK why they would need one 30 years later?

Where are these "hotrodders"? I have about a dozen of those pods and can't sell a lick.

Advert them on craigslist under automotive parts. Take one with you to the next car show you attend.
